Puts on her best smile But underneath she's a broken girl Ceiling. SB stared up at the ceiling, lying down on her funky orange carpet on her bedroom. Ow! The lights were starting to burn her eyes. Having a staring match with the ceiling was not her best idea. With a groan, she rolled over on her belly and began staring at the phone. Ring! Come on ring! she chanted silently in her head. Darn! Why wouldn’t the phone ring?
As if on cue, the phone rang. ”Great I’ll see you tomorrow. Bye Mrs Park” she said politely!and the line went dead. In celebration, Sabrina threw her phone on her bed and grabbed her bag. Finally, Mrs Park had returned her call to confirm that her services were needed tomorrow. Normally, she would have headed out already, bringing her phone with her. But today was not the day to bring her phone out. The person she was about to meet was probably very sensitive about phones at this point in his life. The last thing she wanted to do was to remind him of his phone.
”Bye Aunty Rosa” she called out happily to the housekeeper, stepping out of the house. It seemed like everyone had plans on this fine Saturday. Her brother was out with his girlfriend, her aunt went shopping with all the other high class ladies and her uncle was somewhere in Japan talking business. A typical Saturday spent. Only, today wasn’t so typical for Kimmy. She had plans, with the resident cool boy. Wow what a day.
The cool winter air struck her the moment she stepped into the streets. It sent shivers down her spine. She smiled at the funny feeling, before flagging a taxi down. She gave the address to the driver. She had a rough idea where his mom café was. It was along the whole street which was highly concentrated with coffee shops, bakery and clubs. Some clubs were fun, they played nice boppy music that she could jump to. However some clubs were just sleazy and downright gross. The weird men/boys there were so rude to her. She shuddered at the memory of their stained yellow teeth and their flashy gold jewelry.
The taxi pulled up to the street asking her which café was it. She had no idea what the name of the café was. Sighing softly to herself, she paid the cabbie and alighted in front of a random deli.”Thank you” she called out as she closed the car door.
Seobyul surveyed the streets. There were a reasonable amount of people around and everyone seemed to be focused on their own task.
”would you like one?” someone asked her, pushing a tray of food towards her. Free samples. Out of goodwill (and hunger), SB took one and thanked the nice lady. Poor lady standing out in the cold she thought to herself. Looking up at the café next door, bricks and scones. Hmm I better ask for directions she told herself cheerfully, popping the sample into her mouth.
As she pushed the café door opened, "Mmhmmpfh!!!" She screamed. It was not a real scream because she still had food in her mouth. Hot Hot Hot! Spicy! Spicy! Spicy! She scrambled to the counter almost choking from the spiciness. That red spread must have been some sort of pepper. A hot one at that. The girl at the counter stared at her blankly, unsure of what to make of her 'mmphs' and hysterical waving of her arms. She was going to die of spiciness if she didn't have a drink, any drink! Upon impulse she grabbed the bottle of water on display at the counter. Relief in her throat washed over her as the last of the spiciness was washed out. "Bleckk" was what she immediately said after coming to her senses. ”Should never take food from unknown sources” she made a face and stuck her tongue out.
”I am so sorry about that” she said to the girl at the counter. When she looked up, the girl had gone off somewhere. The person staring back at her was none other than her new friend, Byeong Keun. *--- TAG *chim byeongkeun CLOTHES * hurr NOTES TEMPLATE BY ROYALSTANDARD OF NS and CAUTION 2.0.

Such a lovely Saturday morning, with only one work shift planned for today~ -sigh- Planning on sleeping in, Byeongkeun rolled over on his bed, burrowing under his two layered blanket with his face in his pillow. The only thing he had to do today was go to work as soon as daylight hit the dawn. OH. Woah! Today is Saturday and Seobyul said that she would come over to the café. Ack! I should have asked her what time she was going to come over. Tangled in his blanket, Keun rolled off of his bed and onto his feet. He rubbed his eyes as he stumbled over to the table where he left his phone last. With the intent to just call Seobyul and ask her when she was going to visit the café, he remembered that one, his phone was dead, and two, Keun didn’t even get her number when he gave her his. Such great planning for such an organized person. He face-palmed and rushed to clean up and get ready for work.
Bricks & Scones started off busier today so Hyunmi was helping him out during his shift. Making everything fresh from scratch made everything taste better, but it took a lot of effort doing so. For more than two hours or so, Byeongkeun had been running back and forth, navigating around Hyunmi and the things that needed to be done. Bah, and he even got some flour on his pants – but it was fine, just as long as his cakes came out loveable. Seeing that he had finished the sweets for display and big orders, Keun sat down in the kitchen while Hyunmi was attending to the customers at the counter. As soon as he was able to take a short break, some girl’s scream? Was it a scream? And was she talking to herself too?
He signaled to Hyunmi to switch spots so that he could check out what was going on. The curtain that shaded the now bright window light was blown by the door, which opened when a couple walked through it. He opened an eye as he shielded the sun with his arm. Recognizing who was at the counter, he dropped his head and laughed. He did a mini hair flip as he approached the counter and greeted her. ”Well, you’re here early. Welcome to my palace – I’m the main chef, nice to meet you Kimm- I mean... I don’t know your name, miss.” He was still curious about why Hyunmi walked away looking confused. ”Oh, yes. Since we have a timing issue, you’ll have to watch the amazingly handsome chef make your food right in front of you.” He approved his own comment and grinned, offering her a glass of ice water. Not knowing what happened, he just assumed that she ate something that wasn’t so pleasant. It sounded normal enough for this cute dork anyway.
The round table that was closest to the counter was currently unoccupied. Two cushioned chairs were pulled out slightly, perfect for the viewing a handsome chef prepare amazing food. So that was where he would have her sit. It would be terrible if he put her at the empty seat across the room anyhow, having to shout just to say something. Pfft, no. This waiter thought about this ahead of time!
Whispering something to Hyunmi, Keun walked around the counter and lifted his arm up to show Seobyul to her seat as Hyunmi attended the cashier. ”So anyway Kimmy~ What would you like to eat? Y’know, start off with something small so you can nibble on something while you watch me and all,” he joked. The café’s fridge was always stocked, mainly for trying new recipes during his free time. So, even without a menu, he could try making anything she wanted him to, with the exception of seafood. In any case, Keun handed her a handily cute menu that he retrieved from his apron. Sigh, yes, an apron. He wore his nice clothing underneath it, although it wasn’t a good idea today since preparation had been so messy.

[/i] she thought to herself sarcastically. He really did look like he was shining with glory from the light that streamed in through the door. But that moment was fleeting as the curtain blocked out the light once more. She watched the couple come in, trying to gather her thoughts to think of something intelligent to say after that idiotic showcase that had taken place. She chuckled at his hairflip, the color returning to her cheeks from that fiasco. She smiled in sweet surprise as he introduced himself. hmm how swoon worthy she grinned and rolled her eyes playfully as he asked her for her name. "kim seobyul. And what would your name be? Amazingly handsome chef?" She played along but not before catching the confused look on the waitress face. She glanced at her briefly before turning her attention back to him. "I have low tolerance for spicy food. Didn't know that the samples from spicy barn were well... spicy" she told him, cocking her head in the direction of the deli next door. "thanks. Sorry I took your display water, how much was it?" she asked him apologetically, thanking him first for the iced water. She was pretty sure it was display water because it tasted a little stale but she wasn't one to complain.
She stuck out her tongue and looked down at it. it's not swollen is it? she asked in all innocence.
Looking up from her little tongue inspection she saw that he had moved away so she followed him. He brought her to a place that looked specially prepared. How lovely, had he arranged it specially for her? Or was she just reading too much into things.
His arm gesture signalled her to sit and so she did. With a smile, "full marks for service oppa byeong she told him, impressed before sitting down.
SB took the pretty menu from him, wondering what was going on in his head right now. Deciding not to trouble the boy, "how about that pretty cake over there? It's small and looks really good" she asked him. Looking at the cakes, she was pretty hungry. Auntie Rosa had made pancakes but SB was too happy to eat much that morning. And cake was a safe idea since it was already there and she didn't want to trouble him at all. She looked at him in all interest as he asked her what she would like. Haha he wanted an audience while he cooked? Cute. "as long as your cooking is better than your magic I think I'll enjoy anything you serve me" she told him playfully and honestly "oh my I really can watch you cook!" she exclaimed, in a honest child like surprise and amusement, looking up at the kitchen. "sounds like the vip treatment today hmm?" what a dorky thing to say overall.
She bit back a giggle when she got the chance to get a good look at him. Cute apron. She gave him a once over, from head to toe, he had flour all over his apron and a little on his left cheek. She wondered if she should help him brush it off or tell him. "oppa byeong... Flour face" she giggled, pointing to his left cheek. He looked like a wreck but a professional wreck.
Ooc; yep 17th december tomorrow :3 ahh I'll make this pretty later #shopping[/ul][/size]

Who was actually weird enough to ask to pay for a glass of water in a café? Bottled water would make more sense if anything because of the silly bottling charges and “natural spring water” that all water is supposed to come from anyway. ”My name is too powerful to say, so you’ll have to just give me a nickname – Sorry, but water’s always free around here.” The iced water conveniently sat there prior to the spicy incident as if it was expecting Seobyul.
”Of course Kimmy, of course” he said, indicating that getting full marks for his service was nothing new. He really tried too, since he was able to meet more people – most of them being girls – and getting good tips by being a good waiter. Too bad today was so busy, hence the flour on him, everywhere. The table that was the best view of the cook was often occupied for obvious reasons, but lately, most of his customers happened to be couples. The couples tend to sit nearer to the cushioned seats attached to the wall or by the pleasant, undisturbed corners. Lately, Bricks & Scones had become a favorite for couple hangouts.
Since Byeongkeun promised to start paying her back with this lunch, he had to make it a great one. Perhaps he’d start his lessons with her today by seeing how she’d react in a pretend boyfriend/girlfriend situation. It wouldn’t be a shocking site anyway, given most of the people in the café at the time were couples. The couples of course ranged from the PDA types, the quiet ones, and the enthusiastic lovers. So many of them! He hoped that hopefully Seobyul would gain some couple knowledge being surrounded with so many. Types of couples could be their main focus for today anyway.
”So you’ll be starting and ending with a dessert – I have to warn you, I am obligated to provide you with the best food that I have today.” He speedily catered his choices to her by running his index finger down the entire menu, putting invisible check marks on what he planned to give her. This small table would look like a portable banquet for one.
There were so many cakes and she chose the most “modest” of them all? It was pretty, but Keun had made a ton of attention-whoring cakes with vibrant colors and decorations all over the place, a clutter style. So, Keun walked over to the light vanilla cake with the airy, whipped icing on top, sprinkled with a moderate amount of chocolate shavings. What made it pretty was probably the white chocolate figures and flowery cream that was on top of it. Hmm, the cake was a pretty good comparison to Seobyul, regarding looks; it was pretty and simplistic, and not overbearing and provocative like the devil’s food cakes. He smiled and opened the cabinet behind the counter, looking for a fitting plate. Looks like his mom had restocked their kitchenware again, giving him more trouble with choosing a pretty plate. Keun ended up putting the slice of cake on a small white plate, which had light pink and gold, curved borders.
He walked back to Seobyul and set down the too-neatly placed slice of cake in front of her along with a mini fork. Planning on saying that it was magic that made the food taste so good, he didn’t when he heard her comment. Uh, magic? Right! Amazing doesn’t need magic as long as you have the hands for it” he quickly covered the word “magic.” Keun had honestly been standing for too long without a good break, so he sat down in the chair opposite her. It was almost a habit for him to make sure a customer was enjoying what he had made. Unfortunately, this chef is too popular, so he hasn’t been able to stop working~ he said, trying to make an excuse to sit down.
Definitely a VIP treatment. As much as he loved his sweets, Keun wouldn’t put too much effort in pleasing someone he wasn’t interested in. Flour- What? He looked at her finger that was pointing at his left cheek. Instinctively, he took a look at himself in the screen of his dead phone, angling it in different positions to see if he had flour on his face anywhere else. His phone was now a mirror. Resourcefulness, yeahh! Keun brushed his face off with his left sleeve, only to notice that his cheek wasn’t the only spot with flour on it. Well Keun’ll just have to discreetly dust himself off when he got the chance to go where no one was looking. Returning to composure, he breathed out deeply. How embarrassing!

Puts on her best smile But underneath she's a broken girl "Nickname huh? I'll call you nick, You look like a Nicholas" she thought aloud. He was probably kidding, but SB was too jumpy to see that. On the other hand it was rather adorable to see her take his words so seriously. She shrugged, "Free water. How generous" She looked into the clear water, trying to think of something intelligent to say. Okay in all honesty, she did have a crush on the guy. Who didn't? But SB knew that out of all people she was the last one on his list. So for now she'd happily take the friend cookie he was offering her.
She looked at him amusedly, completely forgetting about his promised relationship crashcourse. Was it her or did he seem even more different today. She pushed that thought away and focussed on what he was telling her about the meal. It brought a smile to her face when he told her about the food she was going to have today. She clapped her hands in genuine excitement, making herself seem like a kid. She was a kid at times. Mostly when she wasn't in school she was your regular little girl next door. Being the youngest in the family didn't help her seem any less child like.
"Yay! I feel so lucky" she told him happily, putting her hands on the table. She peeked over at the menu where he was mentally checking off the food he was going to prepare. "Wow that's a lot of food, you're joining me right?" she asked worriedly, looking at him. "I've never eaten this much since I went to the new years street market. We ate so much that we threw up" she laughed at that memory, before realising how morbid that sounded. "Not that I enjoy throwing up but it was fun you should try it" she defended how morbid she sounded with a small shrug and smile. Oh my the little girl was babbling away about food and vomit. How...dorky. "Haha sorry I will eat anything you give me" she assured him with a sweet smile.
While he went to get the cake she asked for, she looked around the cafe. It was quaint and homely, just like what he had told her in school. Business was good, it was like something you would see in dramas. Sweet little cafe, a perfect place for a date. She counted the couples, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight plus a lonely guy who kept glancing at the clock. He was probably waiting for his date. She frowned slightly when it occured to her that he might have been stood up. oh I hope she comes in the end she thought to herself, how sad unrequitted love. The lonely boy seemed to realise that she was staring and began to stare back at her. SB blushed and looked away, turning her attention to Byeongkeun who was coming back with the pretty pretty cake. That was embarassing she thought to herself, as he placed the cake in front of her. She grinned at the sight of the intricately made pastry. It seemed so delicately made, like fairies made it .
So there she was, gaping at the carefully crafted piece of art cake. She tilted her head, carefully inspecting it. It made her look like such a little kid, inspecting the cake in awe, completely forgetting that it was meant to be eaten not stared at. "Wow..." escaped from her lips. Snapping herself out of the awestruck daze she was in, she smiled at him. "It looks amazing...like fairies made it. Definetely magic" she nodded cheekily, giving him a thumbs up. "Are you secretly a fairy? Like from tinkerbell or something" she asked him playfully, picking up the fork. Her expression changed from happy to serious, "Not that I watch tinkerbell...just...you know" she gave him an embarassed smile, showing him her kid like side once more.
"Sit sit poor thing" she chuckled, shaking her head sympathetically. She looked around the cafe, more people had came in since she last looked up. "Okay" she exhaled, the fork in the air, "where do I start" she asked no one in particular, reluctant to destroy the pretty cake. SB carefully poked the fork into the cake, scooping up a piece. It may look like she was reading too much into eating a piece of cake but he obviously made it with care so a little respect wouldn't hurt anyone. It was part of her personality, being careful with people. Some people may seem like a shiny diamond on the outside but you could never go wrong with a little caution.
She placed the scoop into her mouth and swallowed in slowly. She looked at him, breaking out into a smile. "It's awesome" she told him honestly, nodding enthusiastically to show her hapiness. She looked him in the eye and laughed as he checked his reflection in his phone. "Oh hi there harry. you should give the poor boy a proper burial" she told him, pretending to look solemn. She ate another bite of the cake, a smile reappearing on her face. "Mffmph" she began. She swallowed quickly, "Sorry" she apologised for talking with her mouthful, "May I?" she asked, leaning over to brush the flour off his face. She gently brushed it off his cheek before moving on to brush it off his shoulder. Might as well play the good guy all the way. "There! You look spiffy again" she smiled contendedly before looking up at him "Sorry I really wanted to use the word spiffy" she apologised with a laugh at her ancient terms. Realising that their faces were too close, she leaned back and began eating again.
"It must be really fun working here" she commented, chewing the cake. "Where were you when I was looking for a job" she asked jokingly, poking him in the shoulder. She had always wanted to be independent financially after her parents died. She did not like using her aunt and uncle's money so she tried her best to pay for things using the money she had earned doing odd jobs.

How in the world did he look like a Nick?! Keun wasn’t particularly sure if Nick was a good thing since he didn’t meet many Nicks. Hmm, a rational person might think Seobyul was at the bottom of Byeongkeun’s list. Realistically, if people were to actually observe Keun’s interests and preferences, they would have second thoughts about Kimmy being at the bottom of his list. The girl was smart, nice, absolutely hilarious, cute, and humble. The humble part would have worked nicely in a couple situation no? Keun wouldn’t have to worry about his girlfriend, potentially stealing all of his attention, and the girl would get a lengthy social boost. Win win! But if only it were as simple as that.
It pleased him to see someone as excited as her, expecting his meals! He put a lot of effort in those anyway. ”I might if there’s enough space for two at the table after I filled it” he told her, picturing the dishes that would have to be strategically puzzled together in order to fit the small table. Sure it was a café, but there wasn’t a rule about not using a small table as a banquet table, pfft. Keun paused his check listing when he listened to the end of her mini story. Huh, is that a cute cover up for throw up? Stuffing my face with food sounds good, so we’ll just remove the unpleasant part. Throw up, striked out! “Anything” was pretty vague, which only helped him to continue planning out Kimmy’s buffet.
A big reaction for the cake that took so much effort to make made Keun feel totally enlightened. He smiled widely as he leaned closer to the table, amazed by her reaction to the cake. ”Nothing to be ashamed of Kimmy, I already watched the movie,” he admitted, letting out a soft sigh. He’s only seen it only because he used to babysit regularly for his neighbors. They didn’t pay him much, but the kids were fun and always had something they wanted to do. Maybe Seobyul’s kiddiness made Keun feel more comfortable around her.
He watched intently as she took another bite of the cake. It was almost like getting a meal judged by a panel on the Food Network which he enjoyed watching sometimes. He clapped his hands together and smiled, slapping Harry the phone in between his hands. That phone really did deserve a proper burial. Harry had done so much for Keun – planning, texting, social networking, keeping in touch with everybody, dates. Sigh, oh Harry. But, as long as his connections kept expanding, he was looking forward to getting a new and upgraded phone. No rush though, Keun had been trying to focus on his studies lately.
”Lies, I bet I didn’t look half bad in flour,” he joked, closing an eye as Seobyul wiped the flour off of his cheek. Hmm, she was already off to a good start. He put a mental check next to a sub-point for “tending to your boyfriend.” See, if only she was more outspoken in school. This girl was far from boring.
”And it is, I can make my winter wonderlands with sugar and anything white.” On his free time, it would be totally understandable for a bored teenager to play in a sugary sandbox, building sugar palaces made of cake and anything white. ”Oh? Are you still looking for a job?”
Keun expected her to continue talking to him as he got up to Hyunmi’s calling. There were quite a bunch of customers for just two people to handle, but Seobyul was in “chatting range.” Since he was already up, he’d start making her royal meal. Finishing writing up a receipt for the second to last customer at the counter, he took a page of light pink note paper and wrote, “Royal Meal Service – Order number 1.” Playfully, he slipped the note, upside down to Seobyul, as an apology for having to get up.

Puts on her best smile But underneath she's a broken girl Now SB was not one to inanimate objects by talking to them. Okay that statement was totally untrue. She talked to everything, when she was alone of course. Seobyul mostly debated with herself in her mind but she liked talking to things. It made her feel less of a loner. Her brother was aware of her bad habit and bought her a plant as a joke. Little did he know, SB actually enjoyed the little plant’s company who was sitting by her windowsill right now. Thinking about it, it would really seem like a modern day fairytale if she and Byeongkeun were to start dating. Cinderella was the fairytale in mind. Prince charming, her knight in shining armor, rescues poor geeky girl. –swoon swoon-. Then again didn’t all fairytales entail the same plot? A damsel in distress gets swooped off her feet by her dashing prince. The only downside, fairytales were well…fairytales. They didn’t exist. At the thought of that, she tumbled back down to earth. Why couldn’t this be the same? She tilted her head and analyzed the situation. Switching into calculator geek mode, she weighed the probability of the tiny table bearing the weight of the proclaimed ‘banquet’ he had in mind. ”Oh well let’s see. The table seems to be about 37 inches by 37. A plate is about ten so this table can take about ~” she trailed off. She sat up straight with an embarrassed look on her face, ”Sorry…it just switched on without warning” she chuckled shyly, tapping the side of head, pointing to her brain. She cleared her throat softly, sitting up straight. She peered over the menu, trying to see what he was doing. ”Well if it helps I like eggplants, runny eggs and maple syrup” she told him, listing her favorite foods off the top of her head. ”Not together though” she added quickly, just to make herself seem less weird. ”Although I did try that once. Wasn’t bad at all” she said aloud. It was more of a thought actually but it accidentally slipped out as an incoherent comment. She grinned and raised her eyebrows in surprise at the confession. Cute. ”You did? Yay you just went from cool to Nick to cooler.” she announced happily. Tinkerbell was the best movie ever. No scratch that, The Muppets was the best kid movie ever. Her two favorite movie genres were romantic comedies and kid movies. There seemed to be much more cinematic magic and effort placed into these movies. Not to mention it brought such a smile to her face. Yep it made her feel like a child again. Not to mention her childhood was the happier half of her life, with her parents, a happy family. That’s behind me now she thought to herself, not willing to think back to the days where she let herself spiral downwards. She was absolutely no master chef or whatever they called it but she knew effort when she saw one and a good cake. It was fluffy and not too sweet with a twist of vanilla. It was so good. She watched him flip Harry the phone, oh boys and their phones. They could be so careless with things. Not to mention dead things. Respect for the...dead? He's a phone she reminded herself as she looked away from the phone.
"Haha it looked right at home...next to your ego" she joked, in response to his half bad comment. Seobyul leaned back in her seat. Not before taking another huge forkful of cake. "Now that you mentioned it. The flour did look like face powder. Remind me to try that look someday" she quipped with an adorable thoughtful smile after she had swallowed her mouthful. Oh my. Good food and conversation could this day get any better?
"I take whatever jobs I can" she answered swiftly. It was an honest and concise answer. She could use the money but she knew where to draw the line. Believe it or not, she once tried working at a bar as a waitress. In all fairness, it was her dark period so she wasn't really thinking rationally. She silently thanked whoever involved that he didn't her in that state. It wasn't pretty.
The next part caught her interest, winter wonderlands. "Fun. I love winter" she said dreamily, looking out the window. "Aww. I can't wait for snow to fall" she wished, studying the streets outside. It wasn't covered in snow. Guess she was nothing but a soft headed romantic when it came to snow and winter wonderlands. "It'll be so...magical" she declared, obviously still in a day dreamy mood.
Her little winter wonderland escapade in her mind made her completely oblivious to her surroundings. SB was pulled out of her daydream when she felt something poke her. She looked down in surprise at the sheet of paper he slipped her.
Upon reading the note, she let out an audible laugh. Royal meal service? Haha wow. She smiled up at him sweetly, before looking around the cafe. Hmm maybe that's why he got up. More orders, more work. He wasn't able to sit there for the whole day talking to her.
Stupid girl you should help she scolded herself. In an instant, she ate the last of her cake. It wasn't really a chore to do that. SB bounced off her seat and stood up to face him. "You look like you could use a little help around here. Free help of course." she smiled playfully, putting her hands into her pocket.
Without waiting for him to answer, she took off her coat and went behind the counter. She peeked into the counter's drawer and pulled out a notepad with a pen attached. Walking back to him she grinned cutely and did a little twirl. "I'm all set for the job" she announced before looking him seriously in the eye. "Don't tell me to sit back down. I can't accept a free banquet like that. I promised to accept a free meal not a feast" she pointed at the note, shaking her head. "Please?" she added quickly with a hopeful smile, lightening up.

In all honesty, Byeongkeun kinda liked her geeky run ons. At least it assured him that someone was thinking, lest he fill the table up with plates that wouldn’t even fit, ultimately wasting the food. He gave her apology a warm smile.
Runny eggs he could make~ Eggplants, he didn’t have. Syrup went well with most of his recipes, so that wouldn’t be a problem. Hmm, would making a purple eggplant cake work? Of course it wouldn’t actually taste like an eggplant, but perhaps she’d appreciate the improv with the absence of eggplants. What a silly thing to put any thought to. Eggplant-looking cake. Keun stuck his tongue out, feigning disgust when he pictured the combination of runny eggs, poured on squishy eggplants swimming in maple syrup. He didn’t mind odd combinations of foods though, since he’s always liked playing with his food.
”You know me well then and if you do, don’t forget to credit me for starting a new trend,” he replied with a laugh, pausing again to make sure the flour was completely off of his face. Keun noticed her obvious liking to winter. He pondered about taking her to Lotte World or even Hallasan Mountain during the peaks of winter. Lotte World sounded more rational anyhow. Bringing a girl out to extremely cold temperatures, especially in a mountain, didn’t sound like a safe bet. Hmm, yes. Lotte World would be a perfect place for couple training, he thought, thinking far too ahead. Today was the first day anyway.
”Ah, I see. So I’m just an unpaid whatever job,” Keun joked, looking down, pouting, with his hands together. Bricks & Scones could use some extra hands though, but maybe he’d just tell her when she wasn’t so busy.
This one couple was so picky about their order that Keun could just rest his head on the counter and drool. The girl wanted to order the cool angel cake that was decorated with different fruit slices but the guy wanted to share a lava cake (one of the best thing’s Keun’s ever eaten <3). If only the guy was a little more considerate, pah. Aren’t you on a date to make your girl happy? Pig out later bro. He catered his solution with one of light chocolate cakes. A cake for everything! Woo!
My goodness, this girl’s too nice. Keun had been used to handling large swarms of customers, though he did appreciate extra help. Hyunmi was busy serving tables mainly because Keun didn’t want anyone else preparing the food. Maybe a few cream puffs were fine, but again, his sweets were his children. ”Y’know, not anyone can do this~”. If he really thought about it, the facts still remain; it’s a café, and Keun’s so prideful about his pastries, plus he was in an apron. That was an exception for cool to him. Good pastries required some major skill. Yes, yes they did. He strictly nodded his head. Pretending that he didn’t need extra help, Keun tapped his chin with his fingers, ”Hmm, yes. I guess I could make space for an apprentice around here.” This experience would benefit Keun and Seobyul; Seobyul would get some tips useful tips for making cute and tasty food for her future boyfriend. Again, giving himself a mental thumbs up, success!
Since the orders were all taken, Keun could use help in preparing the food. The cake display needed some restocking anyway, so Keun looked inside the forever untouched fabric cabinet and took the smallest apron from it give to Seobyul. It was a little dusty so Keun dusted it off in a corner before handing it over. ”Hm, how would you like to make an eggplant-style cake then?” Maybe after they finished, she would be able to use the recipe to prepare an eggplant-style birthday cake for a uh, birthday. Eggplants are purple or green so the food coloring would easily fit with a green tea or royal purple batter. Pft, he thought these things through. ”Well? It’d just –look- like an eggplant, but it won’t taste anything like it. You can pick the flavor!” Keun turned Seobyul around by her shoulders and gently pushed her towards the kitchen, unexpectedly big for such a medium sized café.

Puts on her best smile But underneath she's a broken girl SB laughed and did an over exaggerated hair toss when he told her to credit her, as if to say don’t worry dahhling I will in a phony French accent. Any perfectly normal person could see that SB had shed the dorky geeky image that she radiated in school. Well the geeky part of that image at least. She wasn’t sure how most people would react to that but he seemed to be coping fairly well with it. ‘Fairly’ meaning he didn’t faint when her shyness evaporated or develop crazy theories about an evil twin.
Was this a date? SB was positive it wasn’t. Logically it wasn’t because well…it wasn’t. There was absolutely no way to say that it was. Or it wasn’t. If only she could read minds. Or his mind at least. She wondered if he realized that this seemed too much like a date. It never occurred to her that he was actually putting the promised relationship lessons into action. The conversation they had in class had utterly slipped her mind. She was still his tutor, dating would make things complicated. Tutoring your date would seem rather presumptuous. But if this were a date, they seemed to be doing quite well as a couple. If she ever needed a fake boyfriend, she knew whom to ask.
SB nudged him playfully when he pouted, mirroring his expression. ”Aww don’t be sad oppa.” she told him, trying to look him in the eye since he was looking down. ”Plus I was referring to me. I’m unpaid whatever at your service” she grinned, taking a small bow. ”Seriously, I want to help.”
She watched the couple from where she was standing. I wonder what’s their story every couple has a story. It’s how they met each other, how they fell in love. For this couple, she couldn’t help but wonder what drew them to each other. They seemed to be bickering lightly about their order. SB giggled at the sight of Byeong’s predicament. She decided that bricks and scones was a great place to work. You could see so many happy couples come on dates. She wondered if he had witnessed any break ups here, that would be tragic she agreed with herself. Her eyes lit up when she saw that they had reached a solution after Byeong stepped in. She applauded the way he dissipated that argument. Now they were happy love birds again, no longer angry birds. –eye roll at metaphor- Now that was cool she thought to herself.
After that scenario, she turned back to the table. SB cleared the items and brought them to the counter. Setting them down on an empty spot, she figured she would wash them later and she walked back to the nice table.
”I’ll be someone. You didn’t say someone couldn’t do this, just anyone.” she replied lamely. That was not a good argument, it was bad to the power of bad, really bad. It occurred to her that she could not cook. This girl was the girl that burned water and short-circuited an EZ-bake oven. Once, she tried to bake a cake using a fully prepared mix from the store but ended up with burnt cake batter and a night spent scraping it off. Sure Aunt Rosa could have done it but she felt bad having someone else clean up her mess. Needless to say, she never touched the kitchen again, everyone at home agreed it would be safer better that way.
There was a solution, she could just help the other girl bring orders to the table. It was still mid morning so no one would really order proper meals. It was more of coffee and cake, so she had noticed. Slicing a cake was no problem. It looked all pre sliced anyway. When he agreed, ”Yay you’re the best” she bounced lightly on her knees and hugged him quickly. Too fast? Too late to take back hugs anyway. She stepped away from him giddily, ”Sorry I really wanted to help. It’s too nice of a day to be sitting here.” she explained, looking out of the window.
She had caught the thoughtful look that passed his face earlier on. ”Don’t worry I won’t get in your way in the kitchen. I can’t cook. Not even with the microwave but that thing spoils flavor anyway” she assured him, looking back at him. ”Or I can send the orders to you and wait tables with her. By the way what's her name?" she looked at Hyunmi, cute shoes she immediately thought to herself or I help you in the kitchen. Like passing you the utensil you use to fry stuff. You know. the thing that spongebob is obsessed withshe suggested hopefully, proving that the kitchen was not her territory, the exam hall was. She took the apron from him and held it out in front of her. Hmm it was quite a fit. She wore it and looked up at him when he mentioned an eggplant cake. Could you do that? Eggplants, she guessed that their egg shape was the reason for the adorable name. that sounds lovely, foods that look like other foods, how profoundshe thought aloud, partially directing the comment at him.
Foods that resembled other food. Now that was an A plus idea. It was like a baked potato looking like a scone. Only cooler and it made much more sense. SB preferred rice to potatoes. Rice tasted much better with kimchii and chicken. She loved to dump rice in soup but enough about her weird eating habits. I mean she could handle chopsticks quite expertly, maybe even ninja style but she liked to play with her food. She laughed and made a face, "eggplant flavored cake. No one would like that."
She let him push her slightly towards. As they walked to the kitchen, she got a better look at it. It looked like one of those professional kitchens with the industrial sized, uh, everything. From the fridge to ingredients. Everything seemed to be really big and large.
"So where do I start" she asked, turning 360 degrees around, slowly, trying to see the entire kitchen. "you're the boss" she reminded him with a shy smile. The last thing she wanted was to make him feel like she was getting in the way. . *--- TAG *chim byeongkeun CLOTHES * hurr NOTES Too much beach fun ^^ wifi finally ahhh So tired it hurts @.@ lol yep I wish I lived here (or koreatown). :3 How's moving coming along? Break-ups here were rather dramatic, more so than most of them already were. Byeongkeun got to see so many types of couples and many breakups during his shifts. Maybe the person that decided to break up with the other brought them here because sweets are great comfort foods? Smart people, sweets definitely were; only a few people were too upset to even touch any food after the breakup.
Not anyone can do this, someone? I -didn't- say someone couldn- Yup, Keun didn't have a reply to that. He didn't bother trying to think of something to say after her comment deemed itself valid. He chuckled, fondly shaking his head.
It wasn't anything personal, not letting people touch his foods and all. Keun's rather protective about things or, people he's passionate about. He didn't even let his lovely umma touch his pastries. Such a bad betrayal after she bought him the tools to play with. Keun's love for pastries could probably be considered as obsessive. They were just so darn fun.
He wasn't worried about Seobyul getting in the way in the kitchen really. His little apprentice should learn how to bake, after all, what girl can't bake? "Cupcake Associate Kimmy!" he called, signaling Seobyul to come over to where Hyunmi returned, nearly juggling plates back to the sink. His sunbae was a second year college student, hard working and friendly friendly to mainly boys unless she knew the younger girls. She wasn't mean, nono, but she's the type of girl that likes to test others. Although the Bricks & Scones was a fun place to work, the downtime called for some friendly play. "This is the lovely Hyunmi and the silly Kimmy - today we'll be a hard working trio, fulfilling our duties to make these couples happy!" he announced in a let's-get-this-done meeting voice. The three of them were gathered behind the exposed counter, therefore a few couples turned their heads and looked at them inquiringly. Rolling her eyes, Hyunmi looked at him and excitedly clasped her hand into a fist.
Keun didn't want to have Seobyul just work with Hyunmi though. He concluded that it was of everyone's best interest that Seobyul get used to baking, as a start: her future boyfriend, the kids at the Sakura Foundation, her family, her friends, and whoever else would want delicious treats. "Sure, we'll get you one of his hats too~" Keun said, taking the fedora from his head and putting it onto hers, as her temporary employee hat.
"I'm not too sure," Keun replied to her comment about no one liking eggplant flavored cake, remembering her trial of runny eggs, eggplant, and syrup. Where should I have her start? Hmm. Hyunmi's doing dishes, but that's too boring.
Keun lifted his finger, the starting point of Seobyul's Cupcake Associate training hitting him. He rested a hand on her shoulder and asked her rather seriously, "can you crack eggs?" They might as well get started on the cake batter so Keun could introduce other magical things about the kitchen and cashier to her while they were waiting for the cake to get baked. The fun part comes in when they get to decorate it. Though, there wasn't really much you could do with an eggplant? Bedazzled eggplant stems? Uneven eggplant cupcakes? If he was able to distract her with making a batter, maybe he could get started on preparing her banquet.

Puts on her best smile But underneath she's a broken girl She whipped around when he called her. Cupcake Associate? Haha. Where did he come up with such things. Was there a handbook she didn't know about. Her gaze went straight to the girl juggling plates into the sink. Spying the pretty plate which she had placed on the counter earlier, she ran forward to take some plates from her. SB gave the girl a quick smile when she took them from her and placed them in the sink. The last thing they needed was for the whole load to come crashing down. That would be a fun situation.
As Keun introduced the girls, SB looked up shyly at the older girl, giving her a small wave. "Hi". She shot him a 'me? silly pfft.' look before giving Hyunmi a smile.
A small playful grin appeared when he tried to seem business like. Boy did he take this seriously. The job was starting to seem more and more cupid like. Helping couples, making them feel happy definitely fell under the category of playing cupid. Keun was head cupid, Hyunmi was vice cupid and SB was a cupid trainee. Er, cupid minus the diapers and arrows. Arrows she could handle, diapers, meh, not so much. Plus she liked what they were wearing. No way was she going to trade them in for a couple of diapers.
Her silly thoughts were interrupted when he placed his hat on her head. The fedora was made for men so it was a little too big for her head. So much so that it covered her eyes. It simply made her look adorable-y comical. Removing the hat carefully, she slapped his arm lightly with it. "one which I'm able to see in would be lovely, thank you" she retorted playfully. With that said, she stood on her tip toes and placed the hat back on his head.
A thoughtful look appeared on her face when he asked her to crack eggs. Cracking eggs? Never tried it but she had seen it get done before. She hoped it would be none to difficult. "I'll try my best" she told him, equally serious. Taking his hand off her shoulder, she patted it softly as if to say 'don't worry', She walked towards the fridge. SB struggled slightly while trying to open the large metal refrigerator door. She peered in, trying to find eggs. Now, she spotted them on the top shelf and took out four. She wasn't sure how many eggs were required but four seemed to be safe. "eggs check" she announced happily, taking a bowl from the table.
On to the perilous task of cracking eggs. Perilous meaning she had to crack the eggs without the eggshells flying across the room or hitting anyone in the eye. She giggled softly at the thought of her eggshells flying into his eyes.
SB cracked the eggs gingerly on the rim of the bowl. Four out of four, how nice. Her fingers however were sticky with egg whites. She lifted up the bowl, "yay cracked with no major injuries" she told him cheerily, "can't say the same for the eggs though" she joked, feigning a sympathetic look as she nodded towards the sad pile of eggshells in the bin.
SB began to see the dynamic here. He would hand her little jobs to do while he handled the uh, big jobs like frying cooking steaming. Basically the jobs that would be potentially hazardous if SB were to do them. . *--- TAG *chim byeongkeun CLOTHES * hurr NOTES Aww that sounds like fun you guys are so cute ^^. How was Byeongkeun going to distract her? Hmm, his plan would inolve putting Hyunmi on a heavier work schedule for today. He plotted quietly as he looked through the decorations cabinet, fiddling with a container of star-shaped sprinkles. The plan was quite simple in his head. All Keun had to do was keep Seobyul busy with making the uh, the Eggplant Cake batter and perhaps major decorating - on something else of course. Yup, he'd stick with that simple plan. Keun grabbed a giant wooden box, which would open up into three tiers, being an extremely cool cake decorating kit and all.
A batch of coffee flavored cupcakes were sitting in the oven, just about finished baking. He and hyunmi would be able tocook everything else just as long as Seobyul was distracted. Thank goodness the majority of food prep was done earlier, when they anticipated a heavier load of customers later in the day; It'd be a pain to start from scratch. Keun grabbed last year's standing sign, what looked like a posterboard, and placed it on the metal counter in front of him with the intention to block Seobyul's view of his working area. Just until he was finished of course, afterwards she could look all she want. He planned on just jumping back and forth to check on things and make sure Seobyul was occupied with something.
With his plan set, he called, "Hey Kimmy! Would you like to decorate some, ooo, cupcakes?~" He imagined the voice that she used to talk to little children, specifically those from that Sakura Foundation. Their drawings were cute, so the artist would have to be too right? Keun gently grabbed her wrist and led her to the metal counter close to the oven. Considering the potential catastrophes that might ensue upon Kimmy's opening of the oven to get the cupcakes, Keun slid on a black and white checkered oven mitt and set the batch of coffee cupcakes on the counter, now filling the air with that warm and welcoming winter holiday smell. Looking at Seobyul excitedly, he rubbed his hands together and unraveled the awe-inspiring cake decorating box. It might've looked humble and plain on the outside, but this box contained three unfolded levels of sprinkles, food coloring, decorative icing, frosting, sugar structures, almost anything you'd see on a cake. It was like a portable cake Narnia if you may. "Make these suckers pretty however you want to. No limit in the kitchen, just don't hurt yourself. We uh, Hyunmi and I will be preparing lunch orders, quickly, and yeah."
Keun told Hyunmi his plan, and they got started immediately. Luckily his hard working employee was excited to start cooking, mainly because he kept most of the kitchenwork to himself. The poor girl had to run back and forth with the dishes while he sat there contented, making his little pastry babies. Runny eggs, kimchi fried rice, baked french toast (to be drenched and drowned slowly in thick syrup), ice cream cake - those were a start. Keun wiped his forehead and ran from place to place, making sure nothing was burning or dying. He took off his jacket and placed it neatly on a shelf. Hopefully he won't forget it - this night was supposedly going to be freezing. Hyunmi was handling the foods pretty well, juggling ingredients here and there. Keun would have to make sure the taste was right after the small stuff was done. He quickly checked on the fried rice, putting the stove's flame on low before working on some fruits for the cake.
He started peeling whatever fruits he could find, unsure of which he was going to use for the cake. Perhaps everything thrown into a pretty carved fruit sculpture? In any case, it wouldn't be a waste. He liked fruit a lot, eating a healthy diet and all... with the exception of his own sweets and all. It'd been a while since he checked up on Seobyul, so he headed over there, peeling a fresh peach.
"Soooo, how's it going there?" Keun inquired, trying to take a look at her work while trying to block his own. Deciding that he wasn't going to use peaches in the cake, or at least, not this peach. He plopped the peach slice into her mouth before giving her enough time to respond. She wouldn't choke right? .__.

Puts on her best smile But underneath she's a broken girl Not to worry. She had an attention span of a beaver. I don't really know if beavers have a long attention span but I just really want to say beaver. Basically, SB has a long attention span. How else does she manage to stay awake in insanely boring lectures. Yes the geek was still human, she did find some classes rather boring but she still paid attention. It was the basic form of respect you could give to the poor teacher who was trying to educate a bunch of uninterested teenagers. She wondered if the vicious cycle of monotonous lectures and sleepy students continued in college. Maybe the cycle was larger in college. Oh college. What a scary thought. She puffed out her cheeks in boredom as he raced around the kitchen grabbing stuff. What a mad rush. She moved closer to an empty table top and leaned against it, trying to get herself out of everyone's way. Blending into furniture had became her thing, so she could almost attempt this move at a ninja-assassin level. Her visual surveillance was interrupted when he placed a board in between the two of them, blocking her view of the stove and other important kitchen stuff. Once again, her mind wandered to the fairy theories where he was a cake wizard and had enlisted the help of fairies to make the delicate little pastries and sweets. Of course all that must be done away from prying eyes, namely hers. She didn't mind the board, after all he was cooking for her. Why would she hold on to such petty grievances. Hmm now she needed something to occupy herself with. She could clean the kitchen, that would work. As if on cue, he offered her something to do. Guess it really was stellar service day. She whipped around at the sound of his voice. Was he baby talking to her? She rolled her eyes playfully, and placed her hands on her hips. As he placed the cupcakes on the table, she decided to play along. "mmm! kimmy will decorate cupcakes for oppa!" she mimicked a child's voice before pulling on the sleeve of his shirt for the full effect. Unable to stay in character any longer, she began laughing. The smell of the cupcakes got to her and it effectively ended her laughing fit. "but seriously, these are insane" she told him honestly, leaning forward to get a better look. She raised her eyebrows in pure surprise when he opened the rather drab looking wooden box. Her mouth dropped open, "wow" was the word that covered it. What? It really did look like a baking version of santa's workshop, or narnia. Whichever fitted the bill better. SB pushed him away gently, egging him to get started on the more pressing matters like running the cafe. "Go Go! Make your customer's day. I'll be fine. Trust me it's like wonderland in here" she assured him, giving him one last push before turning back to the cupcake haven he had thrown her in. With him out of the picture, SB began taking apart the icing set. She found loads of stuff that went into the 'must use' pile. They consisted of the icing which came in 24 colors, multi colored fondant, whipped marshmallow cream, sprinkles of different shapes and a bunch of other stuff which tasted really sugary. Mentally making a note to refrain from taste testing almost all the toppings, she fell in love with the marshmallow whip. The flavoring and coloring found in that thing was insanely creative. Kimchi flavored? Hah. That was worth a shot. Half an hour had flew by. The cupcakes turned out pretty satisfactory. She had split the batch into half, in case she ruined the first half. A few were covered in icing, using edible deco pens to draw pretty patterns on them. A few were decorated in fondant. Cutting out the fondant into the cafe's logo consisted of her looking up and down at her apron to get it right. Thankfully, she got it right. It would be really rude to mess up someone's logo. The last few went to the marshmallow whip. She had a brainwave. After making a one inch thick layer of whip, she stacked a cookie and redid the layer of whip again. Varying her cupcakes from two layers to three layers, she was finally on the last cupcake of the first half. Hesitantly, she mixed the kimchi flavoring with the whip. It turned a pale red color, almost pink actually. It looked pretty but she figured she would buy it from him lest he placed the batch on sale. Some poor soul would buy it without knowing any better. So she recreated the same design. Cream, cookie, cream. As he popped over, he took her by surprise. Raising up the kimchii flavored marshmallow whip muffin so that he could see her progress, she spun around quickly. In the quick spin she had accidentally smeared the topping all over his mouth. Upon opening in shock, he stuffed something fruity tasting into her mouth. The move caught her by surprise. Choking slightly on that peach attack, she began coughing. She placed the muffin on the bent over, so that he wouldn't be able to see her face. Chew. SB began chewing the peach slice in between coughs. Finally, she managed to swallow the peach slice. "never do that to me again" she told him, standing up straight, gaping for air. When she looked up, all signs of distress evaporated because she realised she had smeared the weird tasting kimchii-marshmallow cream all over his mouth when she spun around excitedly. Her eyes widened in amusement but she bit her lip to keep from laughing. "I am so sorry...so so sorry. she apologised profusely, reaching up to wipe the cream off his face using her fingers. Not the best idea, it just smeared the cream more. She bit her lip in horror at what she had just done, "eep sorry" she told him, looking around for a towel. . *--- TAG *chim byeongkeun CLOTHES * hurr NOTES <33 sounds like true love to me. Entrusting Seobyul with the precious task of decorating the coffee cupcakes, Keun headed off to take care of the rest of the food, only a few orders actually being customer orders. Hyunmi and he were very busy at work though. Almost like trained dolphins, the two of them balanced dishes and foods while transferring them into pots and dishes. Hopefully the yummy smell would dissipate into the air before attracting anyone who shouldn't know about it over.
He spoke loudly, rather obviously, to Hyunmi, the two of them trying to cover up their food plans. It didn't really matter anyway, because Keun had already told Seobyul that the customers wanted a lot of food. No harm in making sure of course, no matter how obvious and loud the covering up was.
The two of them hurriedly rushed the finished foods out to the empty round table where Seobyul sat. Yes, serving an empty table, especially so frantically called for some attentive and questioning stares by his customers. Keun just laughed it off, trying to fit the four dishes of kimchi fried rice, a huge bowl of runny eggs, and baked french toast (ready to be drowned by the wide cup of syrup that sat cozily next to it). He wasn't finished with the ice cream cake though, since the cafe's old ice cream maker took quite a while to freeze the cream that he put into it not too long ago.
-------------------
The food trade off was quite smooth. Both foods were perfectly aimed at both of their mouths, and no one choked, to death at least. "mmf!" he tried to speak, but his words came out muffled because of the kimchi flavored icing that was now all over his mouth. Instead, he motioned apologetically, trying very hard to keep his laughter in so he wouldn't look like a jolly Santa, pale pink beard and all. The muffled speech was only muffled because he was afraid of her mixtures, remembering the way she talked about her cooking skills. He leaned to the side, taking a look at the finished cupcakes when Seobyul was hunting for a towel. They were in the more desolate and unused section of the kitchen, so no towels even lived there. Everything was in the front. Keun was less hesitant to open his mouth when he saw the cupcakes with the Bricks & Scones logo on them. Oh my, those are pretty cute. I've never thought of making them like this." They did look appetizing, the colors blending nicely and all. He licked the corner of his mouth where the icing was, and to his surprise, he tasted some kind of weird sugary kimchi flavor. Odd taste, but he had to give her props for creativity. He'd try them later and perhaps consider advertising her cupcakes for sale if they passed the taste test.
He poked her as she continued searching for the towel that didn't exist in that area. "Ahaha, don't worry, I'll get a towel - but come with me." He brought her out to the table, hot foods filling the air with their pleasant smells, and desserts sitting cozily in their cool plates. The only thing that was missing was the giant ice cream cake that wouldn't even fit on the table at that time anyway. As soon as he signaled her to sit, Keun headed over to the sink, where he washed the kimchi frosting off of his face, accepting a towel Hyunmi offered him.
Completely tired of his food tasks, he sat down at Seobyul's table, encouraging her to eat. Sitting, he leaned on his shoulder that was touching the wall next to them, trying not to slouch lazily. He wanted to lie down on some cool grass; kitchen work was hard work. "Hey Kimmy," he said, his voice soft, "What would you say if I asked you out? Y'know, girlfriend boyfriend-wise?" Snapping to attention, he leaned forward, staring her straight in the eyes.

Puts on her best smile But underneath she's a broken girl At least the peach was not covered in artfully weird tasting cream. So that allowed her to laugh,, in the bend over backwards, gaping for air kind of laughter. She was sorry for laughing so hard but it was seriously an adorable yet funny as hell sight. Regaining composure, she shook her head at the poor state of the kimchii muffin and set it down.
She bit her lip nervously as she combed her side of the kitchen looking for a towel. Why weren't there any towels. She found a stack of newspapers tucked away in a corner but dismissed the idea. The cream would mix with the ink, resulting in a grayish pink beard. How santa claus like, minus the belly fat and red suit of course. The thought made her chuckle as she made one last check of her surroundings, no towels here, poor oppa. Her position veered towards the other side of the board. Without meaning to, she caught a glimpse of the messy dishes and pans strewn over the counter. A little gasp escaped her. Quickly turning her head, she secretly hoped that the mess wasn't a result of the banquet meal he promised her.
"er, is the kimchi marshmallow beard any good? she asked him hopefully when she saw him lick a tiny part of the cream off. "I really didn't mean for that to happen" she told him with an apologetic head bow. "but it's a good look for you" the, er, compliment came out in such a plain and honest manner it made her smile.
SB allowed him to lead her back out into the cafe. It was a nice change of ambiance. From the industrialized kitchen feel to the cozy warmth of the cafe, it was definitely an awesome transition. Not to mention the ventilation was better, she felt rather warm in there, which was odd since it was the cold season. As he led her to the table, she caught sight of the spread. Had he and hyunmi prepared all this food?
Her first reaction was to stand there and gape. So she did, she stood there gaping awkwardly at the food, unsure of what to say. Obeying his signal, she sat back down into her original seat. "wow" seemed like the only word which was appropriate to describe the current situation.
Like a little kid, she inhaled the smell of the food. How awesome did all these food smell, crazy awesome. In a way, fried rice and fench toast were dinner and breakfast foods but it smelled so amazing she didn't really care about the time of the day.
Upon receiving the permission to eat, she picked up a spoon and dug into the kimchi fried rice. She was hungry, no doubt about that. The rice was so good she could barely speak. I guess he didn't need her to tell him how good it was, it was clearly depicted on her face, too clearly perhaps.
Stealing a glance at him she realized that he seemed exhausted. "thank you by the way -- for everything" throwing in a sweet smile to show him how grateful she was. For treating her like a friend, cooking for her and not thinking she was a complete dork. Even if he had thought about it, at least he did not show it, unlike some people. Now if she weren't so shy she might even consider giving him a neck massage since he was clearly exhausted from cooking, or using his magic food making powers, whichever worked.
Her widened eyes looked back into his eyes in pure innocent shock and surprise. The choking this time was real. On her second spoon of rice, he popped the question. Well not the lifelong commitment question but she deemed this question to be equally scary mind blowing as the former. He was joking right? She coughed a few times, breaking eye contact, taking the spoon out of her mouth. "I'm sorry what? she asked, making eye contact.
"like on a date" she asked him softly after repeating the question a thousand times in her head. Uh, since when did she officially turn into cinderella? A part of her hoped it were true but the logical part practically screamed 'are you crazy?!?'. Then again, romance wasn't about logic. Taking a deep breath she calmed down, maybe he was kidding.
She managed to give him a smile, looking back into his super handsome eyes. They were so deep like - she was getting distracted again. "uh well..." she puffed out her cheeks, putting on her thinking face, seriously considering his offer. "I would definitely say yes. I mean you would totally be a fantastic boyfriend, from what I've seen today. Full marks" she nodded while looking at him, feeling happy with her answer. "why do you ask?" . *--- TAG *chim byeongkeun CLOTHES * hurr NOTES aw, I don't know which is better, pizza or you two.
