So, since I'm really busy lately, I thought the least I could do is make an ooc discussion for us all!
So everyone, what do you find easiest to rp: males or females? Why? And does age have anything to do with it for you? Are you more likely to play an older male or a younger male? What about age for females? What about any other factors that influence your preference?
So, let's get this going ~ I'm super interested in what you all have to say As for myself, I prefer to portray dudes. My explanation will come shortly ~

Yay! discussions!
I prefer playing guys. I dunno why, but when I was about 10/11, when I started RPing, I started out with two female characters. And they were both like me, and extremely moody. I hated it. Idk why, but they didn't really get much attention either. So I picked up a few boy characters (mind you, this was more like a chat rp). Once I did, there were so many people talking to me/the characters and such that I was just amazed. I was about eleven at the time, and teenage boys were kind of my thing. I found out that because I played all these male characters that the people I was RPing with also thought I was a boy. A sixteen year old boy.
That's what really started me on the whole boy thing. I had a few female characters here and there, but I didn't really favor them much, and often got bored with them. At the moment I have about eleven characters on various sites, total, and only two of them are female. Boys to me are just easier. I don't know exactly what about them makes it easier; they just are. They're more fun too. Maybe because boys don't have to go through periods x.x and instead I get to write about funny things like their voices changing.
Maybe because they are the opposite of me, and my friends (because all of my friends are girls). I think I act more like a guy than I do of typical girls my age. If that makes any sense. I still am giggling and stuff about a guy being hot. But when I RP a guy, I get to save all the pictures of his play-by to my computer and drool over them. ^^
u_u this is, like, a really long answer and everything but I just can't find the right words. Teenage guys are easier for me to play because I'm around them all the time at school. It's easy to get into their minds when it's like that. It's easy for me, because a lot of the books I read have male leads in it that are teenagers and are easy to get attracted to on a personality level. There's less difficulty playing a guy when it's kind of what is being read.
Older guys are kind of a new thing for me. The only two male characters that I have over twenty are on this site. And it's very hard because I don't have a father figure in my life, or really any older men in my life at all (except my uncle & cousin but I don't see them that much). So I don't really know a lot about how to act or any of that aside from a few movies I've seen and books I've read. It's also hard for me to do that because I haven't experienced being employed or looking for a job, or going to college. I'm just in high school, so there's a lot to learn. What's a college guy's life anyway? Or a businessman's life?
As for women, I think I could play any age for women if I really thought I'd stick with a girl character. I've grown up around women, older women and have heard a lot of stories from their lives. I find it easier to step into shoes like that. But being a girl myself, I find it uninteresting to write about life as a girl (no matter the personality of the character) because it's stuff that I've already experienced, could experience, or have yet to or have never experienced. I guess playing a girl isn't as challenging to me as playing a boy is. (though I do find my boys more girly and my women more manly. in a way. x.x)
Gosh, that was long. And I still feel like I haven't said what I really wanted to say.
