He heaved a sigh of relief before flipping the light switch. No one was home. Just for caution’s sake, he darted around the entire place to ensure that Min was not home. He would have to have a good excuse as to why he was sneaking around like that. He did. He had a fantastic plan to help his hyung stand back up.
Kyu heaved a sigh of relief, standing up straight, letting his guard down. He walked over to his hyung’s bed which was littered with clothes and crushed paper. A mini mountain of crumpled sheet music covered his guitar. Kyu shook his head, disgusted at the mess and wondered if he’d ever heard of a wastepaper basket. Oh well, on the bright side it did make his plan much easier to carry out.
So the rifling began. Kyu unwrapped the wads of paper carefully. He was not a music person. He had a basic understanding on note reading but that was it. Being the brother who fell asleep during music lessons made Min seem like the one destined for music greatness. Still believing in that, Kyu was probably Min’s biggest fan. No wait, their aunt was their biggest fan. Kyu would be the supportive fan. Yes, that was it. He was supportive and proud of his brother even though Min was not playing up to part standards.
After going through all 28 wads of paper, Kyu had managed to piece together a decent looking song. There was an intro, bridge, chorus and ending. That was what made a song right? It looked complete to him so he was pretty satisfied with himself. The song was about 5 pages long.
He was not a sneaky person. In fact, Kyu detested having to do this but it seemed like the only option. He did try asking Min to play some for him but his hyung gave up in mid-song, saying that it wasn’t good enough. Kyu tried to get him to go on but he was as stubborn as a donkey. People did say that right? Donkey. Whatever.
Contented with his sneaky work, Kyu headed downstairs. The restaurant was ¾ full but the dinner crowd had more or less died down. He quickly nodded a greeting at the chef holding up his post. Manage Joong shot him a quick disapproving look from across the room while talking to a table full of regulars. Kyu managed a quick bow from across the room before going back to the matter at hand.
Dodging waiters and customers, he reached the end of the Palace. ”Hey buddy” he whispered to the musician they hired for tonight. ”Play this” he told them, pulling out the sheet music. What was his name? Manager Joong had made Kyu shake hands with him as the co-owner of the restaurant. Mr. Woo, he settled on that name, pondering no further about that irrelevant matter. Mr Woo was about thirty…forty? He wondered what was he doing in such a place. Youth was fleeting I guess. Next thing you know, you’re stuck in a dead end joint like this playing background music.
Well that’s about to change he thought to himself. I mean Mr. Woo’s sucky music career wasn’t going to change but the music was. Mr woo shook his head. He muttered something about young kids ordering him around but took the sheets from him anyway.

Rubbing his hands excitedly, he watched Mr Woo make the arrangements. Kyu was so thrilled he didn’t even realize when someone tapped his shoulder.
